BALIKPAPAN "OIL CITY"

Balikpapan is the second biggest city in East Kalimantan. It is located near Makassar strait. People usually called Balikpapan "Main Gate" of Borneo. Balikpapan is main city of oil, mining and wood industry. It has international airport, called Sepinggan, and international harbour. Beside that Balikpapan also famous as
rich, clean, and one of the safety city in Indonesia. Many ethnic live in Balikpapan, such as Dayak, Bugis, Java, etc.

Tourist Object
1. Tukung Island

It is Balikpapan's Tana Lot. We can reach to the island only when the sea is tide. People usually fishing in there.

2. Melawai Beach

This beach is located near Tukung Island. In here there are many various food wih low price. In here you can relax and see many ship at the sea.

3. Manggar Beach

This beach has a beautiful scenery. People usually playing, sailing, and swimming in here. Sometimes there is a kite event in here. There will be many kites that have unique shape.



4. Hutan Lindung Sungai Wain

In Sungai Wain there are many rare animal, such as orang utan, monkey, bekantan, Enggang, etc. It is one of water source for Balikpapan city.

5. Caribean Waterpark

It is the biggest water park in East Kalimantan. It is decorated with character from Disneyland, such as pirate, mermaid, and Poseidon. In here we can swimming, surfing, or just enjoy the scenery or foollowing the stream of "sungai Malas".

6. Bekapai Park

It is located in the center of Balikpapan city. In here we can playing with our family, trying unique food or just enjoy the atmosphere.

7. Tritip (captive crocodile)

It is located in kilometre 17th. It has around 1500 crocodile in here. We can take a picture with the crocodile or eat "crocodile satay". It is very delicious but for moslem it is not Halal. Beside that there many elephant in here too. So we also can ride elephant in here.
